Our TECH+ Service offers the right treatment for every demand. For maximum performance, work pieces are already treated in the standard process before the actual coating process begins, as polished surfaces take coatings much better. We offer specific optional treatment methods for highly specialised demands that go beyond standard coating processes …

Decoating..

Our decoating service offers chemical removal of existing coatings for efficient tool reprocessing and optimal recoating. The process is gentle and doesn’t damage the base material.

  • Dimensional stability retained
  • No changes to tool geometry
  • Clean surfaces free or residue
  • Prevents issues caused by multiple coatings
  • Preparation for recoating
  • Tool re-use
  • Economical & sustainable

Deburring..

Eifeler deburring refers to the efficient removal of burrs following mechanical treatment. It guarantees clean, functional edges without affecting the edge itself. HSS and gear cutting tools such as hobbing cutters, cutting wheels and the like are deburred using our fully automated ceramic ball blasting system. Only fully automated deburring guarantees even quality, efficiently, gently and process-safe.

  • Clean, burr-free edges & surfaces
  • No functional restrictions caused by burrs
  • Cutting profile remains, no loss of substance
  • No dimensional changes
  • Gentle treatment thanks to precise blast guidance
  • Fully automated process
  • High process safety & consistent quality

Fine Blasting..

Our Fine Blasting service is ideally suited for sensitive, delicate tools and complex geometries. Hardening, discharge machining residue and oxide layers left behind by discharge machining or hardening are removed using a mixed aluminium oxide blasting medium.

  • Removes oxide layers and hardening & discharge machining residue (white areas, scales, EDM layers)
  • Bare metal surface
  • Homogeneous surface structure to prepare for adhesion
  • No dimensional changes
  • Dry & residue-free
  • Finely metered material removal
  • Optimum basis for coating
  • Improved coat adhesion
  • Ideal for sensitive tools

Micro Blasting..

Our Micro Blasting service is a fine blasting method using to prepare surfaces of tools and components exposed to high stress, e.g. in serial manufacture, motorsports and medical technology. This process uses shot peening to specifically compress the workpiece’s surface structure. Micro Blasting is suited to optimally prepare it for the coating process and visually refine it, without changing the component’s geometry.

  • Micrograin blasting medium for compression (shot peening)
  • Laser inscriptions and serial numbers are retained
  • High surface quality: low roughness, improved visual appearance
  • Bare metal surface
  • Homogeneous surface structure
  • Gentle treatment
  • Optimum basis for coating
  • Improved coat adhesion
  • Ideal as a follow-up process to Fine Blasting for coordinated structure & function

Polishing..

Polishing is a vital process step prior to coating that optimises surface quality. A high-quality polish significantly reduces friction and improves coat adhesion. The better surfaces are prepared, the more effectively the coating can show its strengths and properties. Eifeler Polishing provides an ideal basis for maximum performance capabilities and high-gloss finish.

You can find additional information on surface treatment and its importance in sheet metal forming at >> Polishing.

  • Reduced friction: low friction coefficient
  • Less material adhesion
  • Reduced cold bonding
  • Improved formability thanks to smoother draw-in radii
  • Less wear
  • Improved coat adhesion
  • Increased surface strength
  • Longer tool service life

Edge Refining..

Our Edge Refining service, the homogenisation of cutting edges, specifically improves their surface properties. Unevenness, burrs or loose hard metal grains are removed to make cutting edges smoother, more stable, sturdier and stronger.

  • Cutting edge homogenisation
  • Even geometry
  • Reduced micro damage thanks to burr removal
  • Increased edge stability
  • Less cracks under stress
  • Improved, even coat application
  • Longer service life

Edge Preparation..

Rounded edges are better than sharp ones when it comes to coat adhesion, strength and performance. Our Edge Preparation service offers specific rounding of cutting edges. This pre-treatment optimises stress distribution and minimises / prevents micro cracks on cutting edges. Defined rounding creates optimal prerequisites for coat adhesion and edge stability.

  • Defined rounding: 2–3 µm, 5–8 µm or up to 15 µm
  • Optimal stress distribution
  • Less cracks under mechanical stress
  • Improved coat adhesion
  • Increased area available for coating
  • Reproducible edge quality
  • Consistent performance
  • Higher endurance
  • Longer tool service life

Superfinish..

Eifeler’s Superfinish post-treatment service offers micro treatment of coated surfaces using a 5-axis CNC brushing machine. After coating, this ‘brushing’ ensures even, extremely smooth surfaces and reduces friction. The process only treats the coat system’s surface. This post-treatment is ideal to improve shaves removal, especially in cutting tools (e.g. drill flutes). Superfinish improves the performance of coated tools: smooth, process-safe and effective.

  • Extremely smooth surface
  • Minimised friction
  • Improved shaves removal – especially when drilling or milling
  • Coating remains
  • Gentle post-treatment through brushing
  • High reproducibility
  • Consistent process quality

GLISS..

Eifeler GLISS stands for an extremely gentle post-treatment blasting method which smoothens coated surfaces. Using pressurised air, they are blasted with diamond-studded rubber particles to remove residue such as smoulder and droplets. This reduces material adhesion and improves smoothness without affecting the cutting edge – ideal for sensitive tools.

  • Removes smoulder and droplets
  • Improved smoothness
  • Less friction
  • Less material adhesion
  • No effect on dimensional stability
  • Extremely gentle blasting method
  • Smoothing coating surfaces
  • Ideal for finely processed geometries
