CrN – The Universal

Chromium
Coating.

Our CrN coatings are suitable for a wide range of standard applications involving moderate loads. And the optimal choice for applications requiring a balanced combination of abrasion resistance as well as corrosion and oxidation resistance – e.g., in tools used for processing plastics that are subject to corrosive wear. CrN is characterized by good sliding properties even under reduced lubrication conditions and enables the deposition of thicker coating layers with excellent adhesion properties.

CrN – Preferred Areas of Application

  • Forming
  • Plastics Processing

    Reduced deposit build-up, good demolding

As a universal standard solution within chrome-based coating systems, CrN coatings are used on drawing, stamping, pressing, and forming tools subjected to moderate loads for processing non-ferrous metals, particularly titanium and copper alloys. CrN is also used in aluminium and diecasting alloys, e.g. forming inserts and cores.

    Benefits and Properties of CrN

    • High adhesion
